FAQ’s
- How do Blu–Drop dual–flush upgrade kits save me money? The Blu–Drop dual-flush upgrade systems allows the user to choose either a half flush for liquid waste or a full flush for solid waste. Money savings come from using less water for liquid waste disposal, which constitutes the bulk of toilet usage as well as reduced sewage fees.
- Can I install the upgrade kits on my own? Definitely, the WF-11C & 12C are simple 5 minute Do-It-Yourself installs, and are designed with the home owner in mind. If you don't feel comfortable doing this, we advise calling a local plumber to help you out.
- How do I operate the dual–flush system? Dual flushing for the WF-11C is accomplished by pressing the lever DOWN, and full flushing is accomplished by pressing the lever UP. For the WF-12C, pushing DOWN on the handle causes half flush, while pushing DOWN on the "FULL" button on the handle causes full flush.
- Do I need to replace my existing toilet? No. The advantage of our Blu–Drop unit is that it does not require replacement of the toilet. Only certain parts in the toilet tank need to be replaced – which can easily be done.
- I have a low flow/high efficiency toilet, will your upgrade kit kit work with my toilet? Yes, our unit will work for these toilets and will improve their efficiency by 30% – 45%, to that of a dual-flush toilet.
- Will the appearance of the toilet change? Depending which unit is installed, the appearance of the handle may change.
- Can your unit work for any kind of toilet? Only two piece toilets with a separate tank.
- Does the half–flush evacuate a small amount of toilet paper? Yes, our units are designed to clear a small amount of toilet paper with the half–flush. The volume of water for the half flush can even be adjusted.
- Are there any local stores that sell your dual–flush kits? We are in the process of entering the retail market across the United States. In the interim, please contact us for the nearest distributor, or if you are interested in becoming a distributor.
- How long does it take to install one of your upgrade kits? Average installation time can range from 3 minutes to 10 minutes.
- Can I adjust the amount of water for half flush? Yes, our WF-11C/12C units come with a float ball that can be adjusted to control the half flush volume. Simply raising it a couple of notches reduces the amount of water (less water for half flush); lowering it a couple of notches increases the amount of water (more water for half flush). We have found that most toilets do not need a half tank for completely evacuating liquid waste. In fact, many customers have been able to adjust the "half flush" volume to less than a third of the tank, meaning they are saving almost 66% of the tank's water per half flush!
- Will Blu–Drop's WF-11C affect the flow rate for a full flush? No. Unlike other competing dual flush system retrofits, we do not affect the full flush profile of your toilet. Therefore, you do not have to be concerned about problems with full flushing after installing our units. Since our dual-flapper operates just like a normal flapper, it preserves the original capabilities of your toilet - we just add the ability to half flush.
- My toilet has a handle on the side, will your units work for my toilet? Currently, our units are only designed for toilets with the handle on the front left face of the tank. However, we expect to have various other designs for different tank shapes in the near future.
- Why should I buy your retrofit units? A dual flush toilet installation will require the purchase of a new dual flush toilet ($100 - $400+) and require the hiring of a plumber to remove the old toilet (landfilling it) and the installation of the new dual flush toilet. This will cost a consumer at least $400 - $600 in materials and labor costs per toilet! Our WF-11C/12C solutions are less than $7 and can be installed in less than 5 minutes without requiring a plumber. If you want to save water and save money, we honestly know of no other way to do it more effectively and cheaply than with our units.
- Do your kits include a warranty? All of our kits include a 30–day money back guarantee and an industry standard 1–year product warranty.
- How reliable are your kits? They have been used all across the world for at least 8 years and meet strict international standards.
